Camp Sol Mayer has a rich and colorful history dating back to 1945. Located along the beautiful San Saba River, the dining hall is made of rock from the nearby historical Fort McKavett. Solomon and Earnestine Mayer donated Camp Sol Mayer to the Texas Southwest Council with the goal of providing people with a place to build character, leadership, community, and relationships.
Camp Sol Mayer is the long-term camp property of the Texas Southwest Council, hosting multiple camping events throughout the year, as well as other council activities. Camp Sol Mayer offers a variety of Options for overnight stays. For Scout Troops or Cub Packs, camping along the San Saba River near the ADA Bathroom and Shower House gives comfort of home while enjoying the outdoor car-like camping in one of the nice campsites. Beds and shower facilities are available in various cabins. Other sleeping facilities offer arrangements for small or large groups. Fishing Pier, conference rooms, dining hall & kitchen, amphitheater and picturesque views of the San Saba River and west Texas. A short walk over to the Fort McKavett State Park to earn the hiking patch is recommended. Arrangements can be made for use of boats, ranges, and climbing wall. Wifi is available in five buildings.
