Our Camp Properties

Serving Scouts, Families, and Our West Texas Communities

The Texas Southwest Council is proud to steward three unique outdoor properties across West Texas — each designed to support the mission of Scouting while also providing meaningful outdoor experiences for the communities we serve. Whether you’re a registered member of Scouting or part of a local organization seeking a place to gather, learn, and explore, our camps offer spaces where adventure and character-building thrive.

Baden-Powell Park — San Angelo, Texas

Baden-Powell Park is a convenient in-town outdoor space ideal for day activities, unit meetings, training events, and community gatherings. Its central location makes it a favorite for Scouting units looking for a quick outdoor escape, as well as local groups seeking a safe, well-maintained environment for youth-focused programs.

Camp Fawcett — Barksdale, Texas

Nestled in the rugged beauty of the Nueces Canyon, Camp Fawcett is one of the council’s most historic and beloved properties. With its scenic terrain, traditional campsites, and program areas, it serves as a hub for weekend campouts, leadership training, and outdoor skills development. Community organizations are also welcome to inquire about using the camp for retreats and educational programs.

Camp Sol Mayer — Menard, Texas

Camp Sol Mayer offers a classic West Texas outdoor experience along the banks of the San Saba River. With expansive program areas, water access, and facilities suited for both small groups and large events, it is the council’s flagship property for major Scouting activities. The camp also supports community use, providing a unique setting for youth programs, service projects, and outdoor education.

Who Can Use Our Camps?

Our camp properties exist first and foremost to support the mission of the Scouting America by providing safe, high-quality outdoor spaces for registered Scouts and leaders. However, the Texas Southwest Council is equally committed to serving the broader community. Local organizations, schools, youth groups, and civic partners are encouraged to contact the council office for availability, guidelines, and reservation details.

Building Character, Community, and Adventure

From weekend campouts to community service events, our camps are places where young people grow, families connect, and West Texas traditions continue. We look forward to welcoming you to one of our properties soon.
